Johannes Rexin
Johannes Rexin founded Rexinfilm in 2016 with a fresh slate of projects, the company focussing on high-quality feature films and TV series of German and European origin.
Cooperation with select partners distinguished by their love for cinema and filmmaking shape the company’s philosophy. Capitalizing on long-standing experience, market presence and contacts, we intend to create a first-class portfolio and to partner with great directors and producers both in Europe and throughout the world.
With a background in production, Line Production and Production Management, experience also includes Postproduction Management and Production Services. Among the many films Johannes’ credits include, he also produced „Qissa – the ghost is a lonely traveller“, filmed on the remote reaches of the Indo-Pakistani border, under the European Convention with Eurimages participation.
Projects in development include: „Ostende“, “Space Cadets“, „Pnin”, and an untitled Berlin feature film project.
Johannes studied politics, theatre and journalism and is a graduate of the highly respected MEGA program of the Media Business School in Spain where he studied management of media companies and received a Master in Audiovisual management.
His experience spans various sectors of the industry. In 2003, he joined Heimatfilm for twelve great years where he produced numerous award-winning films such as BAL (Golden Bear 2010), SWEET MUD by Dror Shaul (Crystal Bear 2007), SÜT (Venice Competition 2008), HANNAH ARENDT by Margarethe von Trotta (Deutscher Filmpreis 2013 Silber), POKOT by Agnieszka Holland (Silver Bear 2017), and GRAIN (Tokyo Grand Prix 2017).
Johannes Rexin is a member of the German and the European Film Academy, a board member of the EPC and an alumnus of the MBS and EAVE+.
